Wow. Interests, Conflicted.

Dang. David Sirota asks how NBC's Pete Williams, who worked for Dick Cheney in Congress and at the DoD, can possibly be impartial in his coverage of the Indictment of Scooter Libby. Sirota picked up the ball where Dan Carol left it. Between the two of them, there's a pretty good briefing on the situation.

I wouldn't say that former political-types can't be reporters. Often, previous political experience helps reporters gain insight into situations that they might otherwise miss, and NBC is pretty up-front with the information in Williams' bio page on their website. Here's a question, since I'm not a big consumer of TV news these days: How clear are they on screen about the connection when Williams is covering people that he used to work with directly?
