There must be something in the air, what with this many people just completely out of touch and willing to make the most ridiculous statements. In this corner, we’ve got the President congratulating FEMA head Michael Brown as people are dying and suffering by the thousands. And in THIS corner, we’ve got television marvel Sherwood Schwartz, commenting on the death of “Gilligan’s Island” star Bob Denver:
"Gilligan's Island" writer-creator Sherwood Schwartz insisted that the show had social meaning along with the laughs: "I knew that by assembling seven different people and forcing them to live together, the show would have great philosophical implications."
Yes, that show where Gilligan was hit on the head with a coconut and could suddenly use his teeth as a radio transmitter really did bring home the tumult of the 1960s. I think that program probably inspired MLK, and helped end the war in Vietnam on a certain level.....
